downpour
cold October, trembling morning
awakened by monsters overhead
released from the safe haven of soft billowy dreams
and into an indistinguishable gap
dislocated from the procession of time
something calls and cannot wait
lift the veil and we'll go outside
breath exiting in an all too obvious manner
like bitter clouds of frosty air
an exalted chain linked to fate
walking into the rain
underneath a canopy of grey-blue furry
a sobering kind of gravity
unpenetratable darkness closes in
and outlines a truth so beautifully unkind
the enchanted fragments of maya's veil
drip with dangerous delight
laughing, falling downward
the veracity stings my eyes
overwhelming are the tears of initiation into sight
contaminated portions of cumbersome sleepiness
dislodges like melted glass from my eyes
a heart smiles underneath without trepidation
as I struggle to see no more
...how astonishing it is to have found daylight in a downpour
