beyond the gate, Adam surrenders
as Eve turns to the sky to exhale

I count the lonely hours without you

as I reach towards a graceless sky

ensnared in a garden beautifully wild and unforgiving

I find that I cannot escape you
the light has been given up to ghosts
and yet I feel you everywhere, all around me

driven under and blanketed by happiness
clean white sheets and high fives
laughter from deep within my stomach
you and the light dancing in my memory
seeing myself in your perfect eyes
inhaling your beautiful waves of green

I cried the first night we met
I still don't know why
I think that I knew before the beginning
knew in some way that you would come
its pitiful the way I mourn your absence now
and yet somehow mirth still pours down like rain

You have captivated me
bewitched me, body and soul
your love has melted the ice around my heart
healed me and made me see
that there need not be any barrier
between myself and the open sky
